RISSA : The Call

Young beautiful vibrant and talented, Larissa Awu also known as RISSA is a rising music sensation who hails from the North West Region of Cameroon.

The choir is where she had her humble beginning. Where her dreams were born, where she came to believe, that music is part of her life and food to her soul.

Coming from a family of staunch Christians didn’t make it any easier for her to pursue her career.

Destiny can be delayed but not changed. Her family finally came around and supported her dream though they wished she would do gospel instead.

After much encouragement she decided to take The bull by the horns and go all out. step it up a notch and go pro! wasnt easy but hardwork has never failed anybody.

She was discovered by FONDOM Entertainment, who nurtured her and helped her work towards recording her first song titled “Don’t do it”.

You should go check it out!

Please don’t forget to like ,share and subscribe and leave a comment Below!!!!! PLEASE , THANK YOU!

A.k.a Penko Baba or PK! with the PK coming from the name Penko. He does a beautiful mix of rap,Jamaican,Makossa, hip hop! Making his brand of musik quite unik. Truth is , after all is said and done, what really matters is the message in the song.

The Beginning

This artist got into the game a while back, as early as 2007, while he was in his second year at the University Of Buea . He was lucky to have friends who shared his passion and they decided to come together and do something about their rap dream!

There was Jack and Steve, together they came up with a song that was recorded by Melcube. Tho this project never saw the light of day ,it instilled in them the burning fire to want more.

E be get e own kind checking dem when it comes to record label dem . Reason why instead of trying to get signed by one ,together with a fellow artist Jahmez, who shares his dream ,they started their own Record label.

Freeboy Entertainment

FREEBOY ENTERTAINMENT was born in 2010, and has been doing some good work ever since thanks to the relentless effort of Penko and Jahmez (who are the two official artists for now) who deserve a pat on the back given that they had no experience nor knowledge on how to go about it, and they didn’t have any financial assistance either.

Worthy of note is the fact that Penko is also a spoken word artist and competed in the Goethe Institute project called Stories Across Africa(2014) where he was 3rd runner up !impressive right!

That’s not all, he was meant to represent Cameroon at the FLUPP spoken word contest organized by the British council in Brazil(2014) in which Cameroon was one of the African countries that made it to the World Cup in that year.

Unfortunately, he could not get support from the ministry of culture for tickets and sponsorship due to short notice. Sad right!

He performed at the YAFE where he made a brief appearance alongside Fayah K-lionne on second stage. It may have been brief but this act played a major role in helping him advance in his music career.

He has been part of many Collabos on songs like “Yamoh” with Spido, D-Godz, Jahmez and a whole lot of other artists from across the continent of which will be made public in due time.

His first solo recording was in 2010 with DJ Kenny and it was titled “Way Out”. It was never officially released but he send this project back to the studio a couple of times, plans to release one of the versions on his upcoming project.

Things you don’t know about Penko Baba: FreeBoy!

Music aside he is a brainiac! Majored in Political Science and Public Administration and had as Minor , Law and Educational Psychology!ended up with a BSc honors degree.

Added to his talent and skills, Penko could be termed a chef! boy sabi cook! mekde awwww lie u! He sees cooking as a great art, that should tell you a great deal about him, e mean say if e touch u eru here ! talk about finger licking gooood!

He is inspired by Music of all kinds, poetry, books, the Bible, daily events, the news and a whole lot more. But he is his own inspiration first and foremost because he needs to find a way to express himself like no one does.

Great Job so far Penko and Freeboy Entertainment ! cant wait to listen to your soon to be released EP.

Meanwhile listen to his latest piece and Enjoy!!!!

Good morning miluvs… after watching El Classic 2 days ago I was reminded of this thing that has been on my mind for a while… there’s this word we often use but I don’t think we really know what it means.

FAN!!! According to Merriam Webster “a fan is a very enthusiastic supporter or admirer”. The word itself came about as a shortened form of the word fanatic meaning

“marked by excessive enthusiasm and often intense devotion.

Fanatic in turn comes from the Latin word fanaticus which was a nice way of saying someone was a bit crazy because they were possesed or inspired by a god or deity.

Truth is when we like or admire something we start calling ourselves fans. But that does not make you a fan at all. If you read for up you go see words like “excessive enthusiasm” way e mean say you like something go jump! For that level way nor..hmm!

C being a fan no fez hard! It’s as simple as pointing someone in the right direction to say oh check out that song, podcast or article, it is amazing!!Or attending every show/ match even if you have to sleep at work the next morning.

Buying a ticket for an outrageous sum of money just to be there live!. Being a fan is part of a relationship. There’s a meaningful connection and reciprocation of support that makes you feel like you are part of something special.

You belong to a positive cycle where your enthusiasm helps the thing you love to continue!..day in day out! winning or loosing that love don’t change
Wuna use to see as some player d jump enter field ele for go touch Messi nor…waaala! Or when them win Barca and we still put look forward to the next game with excitement cuz this love is forever…

So, go out of your way,be positive, be excited, a Lil crazy even possessed lol when you support that which you are a fan of!
Don’t focus on the price tag, time, sacrifice. These are all part of ride! You have all it takes…go out there and be a fan! A true fan!!

He is a shadow walker, one of the reasons you get to enjoy beautiful music, he is the brain behind the music, the beat maker…he is the sound. Please permit me introduce to y’all beautiful people…the Producer Marc Eff originally born as Nkwain Marcel Ful!!

Growing up, this dude loved his culture so bad, he decided to be a part of it by playing the xylophone, in the local traditional masquerade dances!! He was just 12 but already had an ear for sound.

Wanna know a secret? Well the name Marc Eff isn’t just a made up artistic name but a declaration of an identity, a personality that tells a beautiful story on its own…Marc is short for Marcel( u already know that..I know(rolling my eyes) and the Eff stands for the “final mark” alluding to the unique touch he applied to his production.

By 2010, Marc Eff produced his first standard product, an album for the Voltage Crew, at the Chillen Muzic Studios. This guy did so good, that Master Chill was impressed and decided to work with him full time, a year later.

Between 2012 to 2019 Marc Eff has produces so many singles from amazing artist such as “Ma Functionnaire” by Dr Kapt, “Over” by Sparx the Virus. He also produced songs for General Toxic, Mic Monster, Witty Minstrel amongst many others.

Fear di paddy man e functioning oh! He takes his work as serious as his Happy Hour!! don’t judge! Lol..He owns an online store where he sells beats!how cool is that! What did I tell u? Dude is only a genius!!!

U know I’m good on my word! So beautiful people of the world….
ON YOUR MARK!!!!!!!

1)Branding – Images and Names

As an artist or musician, I’m sure you have profiles across multiple social networks. You probably have a Twitter, A Facebook fan page, account and a handful of others where you have advertised your music in hopes of being noticed.

The first form of representation as a musician online, before someone even gets to the play button, will be your images. Be sure the images on your profiles are up to date and of good quality.

If you are just starting out and unable to provide a high-quality photo of yourself, a great alternative is to add a high-quality graphic or cover photo that fits your image as a musician.

No one will need to know that you haven’t had your photo shoot yet! Also, as a musician, you are now a brand. You are a business, and your product is your music. Be sure that all your profiles share a common theme and most importantly, a common name to represent you.

You wouldn’t want to confuse potential fans by having your SoundCloud introduce you as one name, and your ReverbNation profile referring to you as something else entirely.

2)Statistics – Existing Numbers and Social Proof

Speaking of being a brand, businesses of all types benefit from having social proof. What’s the real meaning of social proof? Let’s say you’ve opened up a barbershop at your closest outlet mall.

You’re new, and you need ways to entice people into walking into your store. You decided to bring a few family members along for moral support on your opening day.

Another barbershop owner has also opened his business right across from yours. Unfortunately, he didn’t bring anyone to his store opening. Potential clients walk by the two shops and take a moment to decide.

Which will they choose? More than likely, they will choose your shop, because more people are already in it. This is how social proof works. The same can be applied to the thousands upon thousands of emerging artists on the internet.

Everyone is new and unsigned! What music will the people browsing through indie artists choose to take a chance on? The ones that stand out and already have a crowd.

Social proofing online has become a bit taboo, but don’t you wonder why you hear about thousands of companies and celebrities taking advantages of services that boost their numbers? It’s because social proofing works when done right.

You wouldn’t want to buy from a company that only has 7 followers on Twitter, would you?

3)New Posts – Engagement and Consistency

When it comes to social media for musicians, you need to consistently put out new material and updates. Visiting an artist’s page and seeing that they haven’t had any new material in years is a major letdown.

A lot of times, musicians have new material, but neglect to add it to their social media pages. Even if you are simply uploading a 30-second cover or freestyle, you need to be giving your fans something new multiple times a year.

Interviews, upcoming performance dates, lyric videos, periscope live check-ins, and recent reviews are great ways to add new content to your pages without even needing to upload new material.

Also, as an unsigned artist, it’s critical to engage with your listeners and fans. You aren’t as big as Stanley Enow or Jovi yet! You should personally send a thank you message to anyone who comments or shares your music online.

The more personal and genuine your response is, the better! Indie artists who engage with their listeners and fans have a stronger presence, stronger support system, and overall stronger brand.

4)About Me Section – Clarity and Enticement

After viewing your image and name, the person visiting your profile will most likely glance at your ‘About me’ or ‘Bio’ section. What could you say in a couple of sentences that will make the most out of your About Me section?

Well, the first thing you don’t want to do is leave that section empty or with one or two words. The first thing you will need to is clearly state who you are and what you do.

In the music world, it’s also a good idea to emphasize your genre so that you can stand out to those who regularly listen to your genre the most. Be clear about what the visitor should expect when hitting play on your music or videos.

Secondly, again: there are thousands upon thousands of music makers on the internet, looking for the spotlight. After you have clearly and briefly stated what you do, think of a brief and enticing way to state what your music can do for the listener.

A lot more people in the music industry need to be thinking like a salesperson! Don’t hesitate to tell a potential fan how your music will make them feel. People are tired of hearing about what your latest song is, how you can help them get more listeners, and how they should buy your music.

The real thing any consumer wants to know is, ‘How will you impress me?!” The key to dominating social media for musicians is to show what your music can do for the world!.

Your music is your company.
Take it seriously and treat it professionally.

We are drawing towards the end of the year and it’s almost Christmas a time to kiss and make up. Everyday we talk about helping each other grow, being your brothers keeper ,yet for the game and fame we take steps that could put a brother down for a long time.

As at now it is unclear as to who is at fault here and why.
Jigi has expressed his disappointment at Mic Monsta, whom he accuses of haven stolen his song Johnny!

The accused in return denies all allegations saying he was talking about himself , about the struggles people face daily ,the hustle, the unemployment, family issues ,working hard but no result etc regular Cameroonian’s wahala!

Who or what to believe is a dilema! These are both amazing artists ,sad to see them go at each other this way. Hopefully the truth will prevail and they can end the year on a happy note!

With that all I have to say is artist please stop recording your songs and storing in the closet!there is no better time to release!someone just might release your song before u oh! Contri Don strong, all man d shine yi eye…

The Begining!

Ruth Ebote Enongene artistically known by the name HEARTS, is a young female Cameroonian artist who found a unique niche in Soul, Pop and Soft rock.

All of which she puts together to come up with something that suits hear extremely creative imagination.

She was born on the 28th of April in Nkambe and is one out of 8 siblings ( oh by the way she has an identical twin sister, in case you greet her someday and she doesn’t react like you expect her to! lol ).

Like most great musicians, Hearts discovered her profound love for music at a very tender age. She would do beautiful renditions of Celine Dione, Asa, Eboa Lotin and many more.

She forcefully joined her primary school choir even when they wouldn’t let her, because she was considered very young.

The Journey

Hearts is a free spirited fun and energetic person, hence her love for outdoor activities; clubbing swimming, hanging out with friends and more.

Apart from singing she writes too. She is the author of all her beautiful songs.

She went in for her first ever singing competition in 2009. A competition organized by Les Brasseries Du Cameroon, in Muyuka.

She did not win, but the thrill of being on stage and seeing the reaction on the face of her audience changed her life forever …

She wanted more and she worked very hard towards achieving it.

In 2013 she earned a degree from St Louisa Nursing Institute in Bamenda , after which she worked in the government hospital in Mbanga for a while!

And if u are wondering if she sang for her patients, yes she did! Sometimes, as per their request.

Sweet Collection!

Talk about healing body and soul. A singing nurse! Pretty cool I must say. She kept on writing songs, downloading beats, working on getting better while was in school and when she started working.

She kept to herself a lot. She is also a very skilled actress. Featured in a film produced by Prince Leku titled The Return of Ayamoh.

Years later she felt like there was a void she needed to fill and decided to go pro! Do music full time. She recorded a couple of amazing songs in 2018. ‘Free’,’ It’s Over’, ’Let Me Love You’, ‘Ill Be There’, ‘Sometimes’ and more.

Spotlight

A year later her first video `FREE` directed by Mr. Tim Film works got her nominated for the Beri Arts Award (B.A.A) which was perfect timing to put her in the spotlight, as many sought to find out who this mystery woman with the psychedelic voice was.

Presently she is being solicited all over the country for live performances.

Waaala! Time for a quick break! Is what? You thought itaf finished? naaaaah!. This is just the avant gout. Oh yesss!

There`s more, so much more! i say ehhh pakapaka! I am done talking (writing, well whichever one makes sense to you!)…for now.

But as my parting gift, I’ll leave you with the link to this beautiful piece, so you can enjoy great music at your convenience!
